Install nessus on Kali Linux 2.0

What is Nessus

Nessus is a great tool for penetration testing and scanning for vulnerabilities. Nessus is a remote security scanning tool, which scans a computer and raises an alert if it discovers any vulnerabilities that malicious hackers could use to gain access to any computer you have connected to a network.It has many many great features.

Installing Nessus on Kali Linux

DownLoad nessus from Here Click on Download button,then select operating system and download it's debian version because kali is based on debian.

download nessus

Now switch to the directory that contain nessus. Let's say your downloaded file is in desktop so switch to desktop by typing cd Desktop Now type the following command to install the nessus package:

dpkg -i Nessus-6.3.6-debian6_amd64.deb 

install package

We need to start nessus services so type the following command:

 /etc/init.d/nessusd start

start nessu

Now we need to configure Nessus Open your iceweasel Just copy and patse this url into your browser:
https://127.0.0.1:8834/

You will be connected via ssl certificate you will get an alert So click on i understands the risks   then    Add exception

After clicking on add exception another window will pop up just click on Confirm security exception.As shown in below picture.

Press continue here.

Now we need setup account by Creating username and password. Create username and password and click continue.

register

After registering user name and password you will be asked to enter an activation code. Obtain activation code from from    from here

activate nessus

Fill all the fields and give a valid email address. Once your registration is complete check your email you will get the activation code.After getting an activation code paste and press continue.Now nessus will start installation process it takes time so be patient.

Once your installation is complete you can login using your username and password that your created during installation.
